these are really bad… one very untalented “artist”.

March 17, 2010

i agree they are terrible. the “artist” responsible should step in front of a moving bus.

These are good (ignore the other 2)

spectacular good quality work regardless what a few jealous morons says here!!

To say Serge Birault’s is untalented is absolutely ridiculous. Their work is excellent. The style is unique and original even in the fan art pieces. The artist also displays emotion and humor exceptionally well. Obviously “youSaidit” & “iNeverLie” just like leaving pointless and destructive criticism.

Huh? Untalented? @iNeverLie and @youSaidit, are you both mad as a march hare? You two obviously live without vision and imagination. Not only is there talent, but the imagination and different scenarios depicted in each scene is whimsical and fun.
I could only be so very lucky to have a piece grace my collection. Love to to the artist.

Methinks First and Second were being sarcastic. It doesn’t translate well in type.

These are great works, I must say so.

I’m not going to go as far as to say these are bad, because they are obviously very intricate and detailed, but some of them could use a little perspective work. Attractive women don’t necessarily need to be drawn with the measurements 55-21-55. That actually makes them look less attractive. As for the works as a whole, they are amazing.

NoSenseofHumour
March 17, 2010

You guys are funny. The first 2 comments are obviously sarcastic and rather funny if you ask me. Just look at their names, I never lie and, you said it. That there is comic genius. Oh and I loved the artwork as well. HeeHee.

The Lum perspective was great, and I like the take on Red Riding Hood.

Do you have to sing to say someone isn’t good at singing? Or dance to see when someone is bad at dancing? No. You don’t have to do either of those, so why do you have to draw to see when art sucks? You don’t. I like the way it’s colored, and I absolutely love the second-to-last picture. But at the same time, the proportions ruin a lot of this. How small their waists are is actually really sickening.
It’s pretty noticible throughout this list, with a few exceptions .. but especially the girl in pink on the pig. Dear GOD, that looks horrible.
This art COULD be good. But currently (as a whole), it’s really not.

March 21, 2010

The skill in these are really good. Although the art is dull, all these drawings are just one step above caricatures.

Kevin Price
March 22, 2010

The angel in pic 2 looks like Eve Lawrence (pornstar). Which is a pretty good good metaphor for her seemingly innocent, yet whorish attitude.

Corrine
March 22, 2010

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say these weren’t supposed to be realistic. More comic book-like. So yeah, the proportions are off. It doesn’t mean he isn’t talented as fuck.

I agree with the people who said these are not meant to be realistic. The proportions are purposefully “off” as far as I can tell, and this is great work. Very nice stuff!

Katy Perry, Zooey Deschanel, Scarlett Johanssen, I definitely see some resemblances. Excellent work, though. An interesting combination of fantasy and reality.

March 24, 2010

These are awsome.I can’t believe people are commenting about the proportion, this is art.Proportion is in the artists vision of the finished piece.Everything in each image has it’s own proportion. If you need realistic proportions then you need to be looking at a different style of panting. These are Great.Love your work, and your style is off the hook! I especially like how you do buns, and boobs .They look so yummy.:)

aeracura
March 24, 2010

I agree brainsandwich!!!
some of the pictures to resemble celebrities! Which is so interesting considering most people wouldnt notice but still find the girls attractive.. well.. for cartoon characters…

and as for everyone and their crazy proportion rant… its CARTOON. Obviously not meant to be realism, obviously not meant to fufil your specific fantasies… Proportions are exagerated all the time in cartoons …that is pretty well the point.

Also, these would for sure make some awesome tattoos! alot of pinups are becoming wildly exagurated as a trend and the girls alot more “bright eyed” and innocent looking than tattoos before, personaly I love the look its very fresh.

#6 Is a good Miranda Lawson from Mass Effect 2 (I think). While I agree with those that say the proportions are a little disconcerting, I also agree with those that say ‘wdf?!,’ I think the overall color schemes and presentation is cool.

If anyone here wants to see this kind of subject done with *genuine* talent (as opposed to *skill with an airbrush*, which doesn’t equate), just search anywhere online for works by Luis Royo. Spot the difference. Then decide where the *real* talent, inspiration and beauty lie… as opposed to the pieces shown here, which exhibit manual skill and training combined with a typical (and, frankly, often-done and rather dull) attempt which artists often make to create some kind of “shock and awe reaction” in the viewer. Sticking ludicrously giant boobs on women is one of those old tricks. Combining them with “horror” imagery is another. Not very original and, as I say, when compared with a genuinely talented and *inspired* artist like Royo (why do you think these women look like celebrities? It’s called “lack of imagination”), looking more like a set of Marvel Comic images on a bad day than the work of anyone with anything genuinely new to contribute to the world of art. Just check out Royo’s work and see for yourselves before you break out the flamethrowers.

These paintings display some incredible talent. The use of color and shade, the way light is displayed, and the subtle but prominent texture to list simply a few i notice. As an artist I am enchanted to such a level that i have spent more than an hour looking.

Only those who have never lifted a brush or pencil, attempted the intricacies of photoshop, or used a camera with any skill would be able to display their empty brains here with boorish comments. There is far more to art than the choice of the subjects. Do paintings of nude men in the Sistine Chapel bring rise to claims of profanity?

There are better methods of marking yourself as stupid than negative comments here.

March 28, 2010

Excellent work. Inspired and talented.

To compare this to my work is like comparing a big Texas steak to a home cooked apple pie. Both good, both with merit, just different foods.

. . . mindless comments usually come from those who cannot think.

The art is very well done. There is great shading and use of color and so much more. This is real talent. However, to say that they are inspiring is revolting (unless one means inspiring of a boner). The way all of the women in these pictures are portrayed is repulsive. Impossibly huge breasts and butts with equally impossible waists. Not to mention that they are all depicted as mindless sluts in porn star-esque costumes with cleavage everywhere.

AMAZING work! love it, also all the folk saying its ‘terrible’ are definitely ugly feminist DYKES! OR so called Art CUNTIQUES! and thats the end of that.

ToBeOrNotToBe
April 8, 2010

“ugly feminist DYKES”? My, someone has a very closed mind. Even a “pretty” girl would be appauled if an actual human had these proportions.

Although, correct proportions don’t necissarily make art, and these are definately all extremely good. I’ve never seen this type of artwork before. The perspective this artist has is amazing.

Jay
April 9, 2010

I’m getting pretty tired of seeing artwork like this. While the skill in executing these pieces is good, the creative process behind them is not. Most are caricatures with big boobs. That is fine, although all too common nowadays. More upsetting is the lack of thought about any kind of background to the subject. They ALL seem like afterthoughts. “Oh, I’ll just throw the disembodied head of a Japanese ghost warrior back there. No one cares anyway.” I see way too many artists working in this manner. They concentrate only on the foreground. I suggest they study Rembrandt.
And to the blog poster, “… great poieces of art which are truly inspirational.” Poieces should be spelled pieces and you posted one of the same pieces twice. Commenters should also learn how to spell properly.
Also, to the person commenting about Luis Royo. All of his figures are very static, as if they were posed and held there against their will, until he was done painting them. You can tell they are not natural. He has no feeling in his work. BUT he does think about the background, which is good.

How much for the Kate Bush portrait?

May 3, 2010

I’m not going to put any of this artwork down (it is amazing) though the proportions on some are definitely off…
I agree with Jay, though. a lot of them seemed like afterthoughts, and some of the pieces were repetitive.

Seriously, an artists work should be unique, it’s not bad, it’s just their style and how the artist wishes to perceive their work.

I’ve been seriously inspired by this artist for awhile. I love the step-by-step drawings (not on this site but another one.) Digital painting is not easy. I can’t believe some of the comments here…Keep up the great work!
