When did you start designing, and how did you turn it in to your profession?
I started desining at the age of 12 helping my father in designing some simple visiting cards in Aldus PageMaker 5.0 (if I am not mistaken). Then I did my formal training for 6 years in graphic design University. Soon after I started gaining experience in a local design studio to become a professional illustrator. After 2 years I finally did it and now I’m a freelance illustrator working worldwide. I have loads of interesting tasks currently and I even can choose what to do and when.

Where do you get your inspiration from?
I wake up in the morning at 4:30am, take a long deep breath and wish that everyone is happy. I’m serious, it helps a lot. Then I do meditation and yoga for about 2 hours. Then my mind is fresh and full of inspiration. I also get inspired from other illustrations on the internet.

How do you create your illustrations, and what tools do you use?
I think of an idea, if I am stuck I use Mind Maps to collate my thoughts. Then I start sketching with my pencil, trying to make variants, scanning the best one and using it as a reference for coloring it in Photoshop.

Designers that you love and admire?
Andrey Gordeev – Andrey is also my Art-dir sometimes, thanks a lot to him, he is awesome, his work for Colgate and Twix, Oksana Grivina is just great.
